Follow the famous Ring Road on a complete circle of dramatic wonders and history of Iceland. Enter Europe's last true frontier, experience southern volcanoes, rugged fjords of the East, the capriciousness of the North, and the astounding West with its abundance of birdlife. Starting in Reykjavík, we travel towards to Þingvellir National Park, the ancient site of the Viking Parliament, the Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir Hot Springs. Continue along Iceland's southern coast, sandwiched between mountains, glaciers and sea. After stops at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, we continue to Dyrhólaey natural reserve, where the relentless pounding of wind and surf are accompany by the cries of countless seabirds nesting in its crevices. From Vík, the tour passes Mýrdalssandur and Skeiðarársandur flood plains towards Skaftafell National Park and on to the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier and the Glacial Lagoon Jökulsárlón. Drive through the magnificent Eastern fjords to Egilsstaðir, across an empty vastness of the highland desert plateau towards Krafla and the Lake Mývatn area. Attractions here including the salmon river Laxá, the pseudo craters near Skútustaðir and the lava formations of Dimmuborgir, before arriving at the powerful Goðafoss waterfall. Pass through Akureyri on the way to Sauðárkrókur. Visit to the Glaumbær Folk museum, and experience an Icelandic horse show. Traverse the Holtavörðuheiði plateau to Borgarfjörður and visit Hraunfossar waterfall and the historic Reykholt. Enjoy a refreshing bath at the Blue Lagoon before returning to Reykjavík in the afternoon.

Day 1 PINGVELLIR - SOUTH SHORE (D)
The tour begins with a drive past the Nesjavellir geothermal area to Lake Þingvallavatn, Iceland’s largest lake, and Þingvellir National Park, the ancient site of the parliament. Continue along the south shore and stop at the waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss before continuing to Dyrhólaey nature reserve (closed during nesting season in spring). Continue to the Vík area.

Day 2 VIK - SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK - JÖKULSÁRLÓN GLACIAL LAGOON - HÖFN (B, D) Between the sand flats we cross Eldhraun the largest mass of lava ever to flow on earth in historical time, before reaching the small village Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. The tour continues over Skeiðarársandur sands to Skaftafell National Park. Continue to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon. Distance traveled: 180 miles.
Day 3 HÖFN - EAST FJORDS - EGILSSTAÐIR (B, D)
From Höfn we drive over the heights of the Almannaskard pass to Lónsöræfi, a mountainous wilderness ringed by extinct volcanoes and traversed by rushing glacial rivers. Towering mountains, their bare rock faces ridged by the forces of weather and wind, plunge vertically into the sea to form Austfirðir, Iceland's magnificent East Fjords, some now deserted, each a world of its own. We stop at Petra's stone collection before reaching Egilsstaðir for an overnight stay. Distance traveled: 193 miles.
Day 4 EGILSSTAÐIR - LAKE MÝVATN (B, D)
Across the empty vastness of the highland desert plateau Möðrudalsöræfi, to Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. Continue towards Námaskarð pass with boiling mud pools and flashing colors. Explore the natural beauty of Lake Mývatn area, with highlights such as Dimmuborgir, the pseudocraters near Skútustaðir and the salmon river Laxá. Our accommodation is in the Lake Mývatn area. Distance traveled: 137 miles.
Day 5 LAKE MÝVATN - AKUREYRI (B, D) Head towards Akureyri with a stop at Goðafoss waterfall. Akureyri boasts some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored. Because of its excellent natural harbor and good accessibility, Akureyri has become the northern centre of education, culture, trade and industry. Distance traveled: 143 miles.
Day 6 AKUREYRI - BORGARFJÖRDUR - SELFOSS
(B, D)
Drive through the majestic mountains and narrow passes which lead to Skagafjörður for an introduction of the Icelandic horse. Across the Holtavörðuheiði plateau to Borgarfjörður, with a visit to Hraunfossar waterfall, and Deildartunguhver, Iceland’s most productive hot spring. Proceed over the mountain pass Kaldidalur to Selfoss area. Distance traveled: 255 miles.
Day 7 GULLFOSS - GEYSIR - BLUE LAGOON - REYKJAVIK (B)
Explore the golden waterfall Gullfoss and Geysir hot spring area to see the famous great Geysir and Strokkur, as well as numerous other hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continue to the Blue Lagoon for a refreshing bath before ending the tour in Reykjavík. Distance traveled: 177 miles.
