Return to the cradle of Norway, the Telemark region with its mysterious Canal, twisting its way from the coastline to the foothills of the Hardanger highlands for over 100 years. Enjoy the peaceful journey across beautiful lakes, through 18 stone walled locks, past villages with typical canal architecture, gliding slowly below the steep mountains. The historic Dalen Hotel, built in 1894 and the fabulous Ullensvang Hotel on the shores of the Hardanger Fjord await you with great Norwegian hospitality and tradition. Cruise to Bergen, where you will have ample time to explore the colorful city.
Embark on the most popular rail excursion, the Norway Nutshell tour from Bergen to Oslo. Board the train for the short ride to Voss. Continue by bus to Gudvangen via the hairpins of the Stalheim Canyon Road. Cruise on the Aurland and narrow Nærøy Fjord to Flåm, breathtaking side arms of the Sogne Fjord. Ride the famous Flåm Railway, ascending the steep mountains along the Flåm Valley to Myrdal, where you connect to the scenic Bergenbanen to Oslo. A great combination of cities, scenic rail following the Norway Nutshell route, combined with historic boat journeys on the Telemark Canal.
 

Day 1 OSLO
Individual arrival in Oslo. Time to explore the major highlights, sights and museums of the capital of Norway on your own. Overnight at the Hotel Bristol, ideally located in the city center.

Day 2 OSLO – SKIEN (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer on your own to Central Station, begin your journey by train to Skien. Upon arrival, transfer on your own to the hotel. The hotel is situated 700 meters from the railway station. Overnight at the Rainbow Hoyer's Hotel.

Day 3 SKIEN - TELEMARK CANAL - DALEN (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Board the M/S Henrik Ibsen or M/S Victoria through the spectacular Telemark Canal to Dalen. A peaceful journey in quiet waters, up locks with stonewalls, through narrow canal ways, and along sheer mountains. Arrive Dalen in the early evening and transfer on your own to the  hotel. Overnight at the Dalen Hotel.

Day 4 DALEN - HARDANGER FJORD -LOFTHUS (B)
After breakfast enjoy the bus journey to Lofthus, located in the heart of the idyllic Hardangerfjord, surrounded by orchards, mountains and spectacular scenery. Pass by waterfalls, serene valleys and quaint villages to the lovely Ullensvang Hotel. Edvard Grieg composed much of his music here at the hotel. Enjoy the wonderful facilities and overnight at the first class Ullensvang Hotel.

Day 5 LOFTHUS - BERGEN (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Spend your morning at leisure exploring the area. Late afternoon cruise on the fjord from Lofthus to Norheimsund. Continue by bus to Bergen. Transfer on your own to the hotel. Overnight at the Clarion Hotel Admiral.

Day 6 BERGEN (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Spend your day at leisure exploring the colorful city of Bergen. Perhaps you can join a city tour or a ride on the funicular to Mt. Fløyen. Overnight at the Clarion Hotel Admiral.

Day 7 BERGEN – FLÅM - OSLO (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer on your own to the train station for your train to Voss; connect with a short bus ride to Gudvangen. Sail through the mighty Sogne Fjord to Flåm. Take the historic Flåm Railway through the wild Flåm Valley, to Myrdal. Connect with the Bergenbanen to Oslo. Evening arrival in Oslo, self-transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the Hotel Bristol.

Day 8 OSLO (B)
After breakfast, check-out and end of program.
