Our comprehensive Scandinavia and Russia tour features a combination of the most spectacular Fjords in Norway, the colorful Scandinavian capitals, and magnificent historic St. Petersburg. Travel by private motor coach, overnight cruises on DFDS Seaways through the Oslo Fjord, and the luxurious Silja Line across the Baltic Sea. In “Wonderful Copenhagen", visit the Little Mermaid and Tivoli. Continue to the Nordic capital of Oslo, and the Hanseatic city of Bergen. Cruises on the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord, and the mighty Sogne Fjord, longest and deepest fjord in the world. Visit the Briksdal Glacier and the dramatic Geiranger Fjord, passing snow-capped mountains and famous waterfalls such as the "Seven Sisters" and the "Bridal Veil". From fjord country to the charming Swedish Countryside en route to Stockholm, the" Venice of the North”. Cruise on the luxurious Silja Line across the Baltic Sea to Helsinki, the "Daughter of the  Baltic". Cross over the Russian border to visit St. Petersburg. Over 300 years old, the city is built on 101 islands, joined by 350 graceful bridges over the Neva River. St. Petersburg is a city of canals and rivers, thus earning the name " Venice of the North". The city, once the capital of Russia, is a bustling world capital of art, culture, history, music and luxury.

Day 1 ARRIVE COPENHAGEN (D)
Arrive Copenhagen Airport. Transfer to hotel in connection with individual flight arrivals. Dinner and overnight at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel. (For tour starting on 15 July, dinner and accommodation at Radisson SAS Royal Hotel).


Day 2 COPENHAGEN (B, D)
The day starts with a 3-hour guided tour of the city. Famous sights include the Royal Amalienborg Palace, Christiansborg Palace, the old harbor of Nyhavn, and the famous Little Mermaid. Afternoon free for exploring this fairytale city. In the evening transfer and enjoy dinner at the Tivoli Gardens. Overnight at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel. (For tour starting on 15 July, dinner and accommodation at Radisson SAS Royal Hotel).
 


Day 3 COPENHAGEN – OSLO (B, D)
Morning free in Copenhagen. Perhaps visit the Carlsberg Glyptothek or the popular pedestrian shopping street - Strøget. Your tour escort will be happy to assist you with sightseeing options. Afternoon transfer by coach from hotel to the pier for your overnight cruise to Oslo onboard the fabulous DFDS Seaways ship. Enjoy the Scandinavian smorgasbord dinner and entertainment. Overnight in your comfortable seaside cabin on board the fabulous DFDS Seaways ship.

Day 4 OSLO (B, D)
Enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast as you cruise into the Oslo Fjord. Early morning arrival in Oslo, followed by 3-hour guided tour of the Norwegian capital. Visits include the world-famous Viking Ships, the Polar exploration ship Fram, and the impressive Vigeland Sculpture Park. Afternoon excursion to Holmenkollen Ski Jump for spectacular views over the city and Oslo Fjord. Dinner and overnight at Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel, ideally located in the city center, near Karl Johan Boulevard and the Royal Palace.



Day 5 OSLO (B, D)
Today is at leisure. Perhaps visit the bustling Aker Brygge Harbor, the Akershus Fortress overlooking the Oslo Fjord, and other popular attractions are all within walking distance of your hotel. Your tour escort will assist you in planning your day. Dinner and overnight at Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel.

Day 6 OSLO – BERGEN (B, L, D)
After breakfast departure from Oslo. Drive through the Hallingdal Valley to the mountain resort of Geilo. Lunch at Bardøla Mountain Hotel. Continue across the wild Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau, with stop at Fossli to view the famous Vøringsfoss Waterfall. Descend to the idyllic Hardanger Fjord surrounded by many fruit orchards. Short ferry crossing, before continuing via Voss and Dale to Bergen, capital of Fjord Norway. Dinner and overnight at Clarion Admiral Hotel.

 

Day 7 BERGEN – BALESTRAND (B, L, D)
Enjoy a 3-hour guided tour of Bergen, including a visit to the popular Fish & Flower Market, the famous Bryggen Harbor and the old Hanseatic Quarter. Ride on the funicular Fløybanen to Mt. Fløyen for breathtaking views of the city and fjord. After lunch we drive to the town of Voss and across the Vika Mountains to Vangsnes for a short ferry crossing to Balestrand. Dinner and overnight at Kvikne’s Hotel. 


 

Day 8 BALESTRAND (B, L, D)
After breakfast we have a short drive where we board the M/S Lady Elisabeth. Enjoy a 2-hour cruise along the Sogne Fjord, through the narrow and winding Naeroy Fjord to Gudvangen. After lunch we drive through Stalheim Canyon , to the villages of Flam and Aurland. We cross the fjord once more by ferry to arrive back in Balestrand. Dinner and overnight at the Kvikne’s Hotel.

Day 9 BALESTRAND – GEIRANGER (B, L, D)
Morning departure by ferry to Fjaerland. Continue by coach along the scenic route passing under Jostedal Glacier. Descend to the beautiful Nord Fjord to Olden. From here we journey to the Briksdal Glacier where lunch is served with the glacial view. After lunch we drive to Hellesylt for a cruise along the majestic Geiranger Fjord, passing famous waterfalls and narrow gorges. Dinner and overnight at the famous Union Hotel.

Day 10 GEIRANGER – OSLO (B, L, D)
Today we cross the steep Grotli Mountains to Lom, following along the shores of Lake Vågå. Continue through the picturesque Gudbrandsdal Valley, renowned for its old farmsteads and beautiful river, to the Olympic town of Lillehammer. After lunch, time to visit the Olympic Park. Continue alongside Lake Mjøsa, to arrive back in Oslo during the early evening. Dinner and overnight at Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel.


 

 

Day 11 OSLO – STOCKHOLM (B, L, D)
Morning departure from Oslo. Continue across the Swedish border, through the charming province of Vãrmland to Lake Vänern to Karlstad. After lunch, continue through the colorful Swedish countryside passing forests, sparkling lakes and quaint villages. Early evening arrival in Stockholm. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Stockholm Hotel.

Day 12 STOCKHOLM (B, D)
After breakfast, proceed with a 4-hour guided city tour. Famous sights include the Royal Palace, Parliament Buildings, Cathedral, Royal Theatre. Highlight of the tour is a visit to the City Hall, with its famous Blue and Golden Halls, home of the Noble Prize banquet. Take a stroll through the enchanting Old Town (Gamla Stan) with its narrow cobbled streets. Afternoon at leisure. Perhaps visit the famous Wasa Museum or cruise the canal or the scenic archipelago surrounding Stockholm. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton Stockholm Hotel.
 


Day 13 STOCKHOLM – HELSINKI (B, D)
Morning at leisure. Afternoon transfer to the pier, for embarkation on the fabulous Silja Line ship. Enjoy the luxury onboard while cruising through the archipelago, past numerous islands and out to the Baltic Sea. Enjoy dinner and overnight in your comfortable seaside cabin on board the luxurious Silja Line ship.

Day 14 HELSINKI (B, D)
Enjoy your buffet breakfast while sailing across the Baltic Sea to Helsinki. Proceed directly on a 3-hour guided tour of Helsinki. Famous sights include the Senate Square, Uspenski Cathedral, Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, Sibelius Park & Monument, Underground Temple. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel.
 


Day 15 HELSINKI - ST. PETERSBURG (B, L, D)
Early morning transfer from the hotel for your departure on Finnish train ’Sibelius’ for St. Petersburg. Lunch box on train. Afternoon arrival in St. Petersburg followed by coach transfer to hotel. St. Petersburg, a city of outstanding architectural beauty, famous for its magnificent palaces, cathedrals, fountains and bridges, as well as the world-renown Hermitage Art Museum. Dinner at the Adamant Restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel D'Angleterre.

Day 16 ST. PETERSBURG (B, L, D)
Morning departure by coach for a visit to Peterhof Grand Palace, summer residence of all the Russian Tsars. Return to St. Petersburg by hydrofoil. Enjoy lunch at the Hermitage Restaurant or similar. Enjoy a 3 hour visit to the world-famous Hermitage Museum and staterooms of the Winter Palace. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel D'Angleterre.



Day 17 ST. PETERSBURG (B, L, D)
This morning enjoy a 3-hour guided tour including a visit to Peter & Paul Fortress, burial place of the Russian Tsars. Lunch at the Senate Restaurant, followed by a walk back to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure. This evening enjoy a Russian folklore performance at Nikolaevsky Palace. After the show, dinner will be served at the Backstage Restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel D'Angleterre.

Day 18 DEPART ST. PETERSBURG (B)
After breakfast, transfer to the St. Petersburg Airport in connection with your flight home.

For guests on the 18 day  tour Copenhagen – St. Petersburg, this ends after buffet breakfast at hotel with transfers to St. Petersburg Airport to connect with homeward flights. Your Grand Tour of Scandinavia and St. Petersburg has come to an end.

 


MOSCOW EXTENSION, 21 day tour

 

Day 18 ST. PETERSBURG – MOSCOW (B, D)
Buffet breakfast at hotel. Coach transfer with guide assistance to St. Petersburg Airport, including luggage handling at airport. Flight from St. Petersburg to Moscow. Arrival in Moscow followed by coach transfer with English-speaking guide to your hotel, centrally located in the Russian capital. Moscow was founded in the 12th century, built as a wooden fortress on the banks of the Moscow River to keep out barbarian invaders from the east. Today it is a modern city with wide boulevards and green parks, yet proudly preserving its historic monuments and impressive buildings from previous eras. Dinner and accommodation at Tverskaya Marriott Hotel, a centrally located 4 star hotel.

Day 19 MOSCOW (B, L, D)
Buffet breakfast at hotel. Morning tour of the Kremlin and Armoury Museum, with local English-speaking guide. This tour lasting approx. 3 hours has to be done on foot as no coaches are allowed inside the area. The Kremlin, which was the home, not only of the Tsars, but also of Lenin and Stalin, is surrounded by 7 meters thick walls and covers an area of 29 acres. You will pass by the Lenin Mausoleum and the grave of the unknown soldier, where brides still leave their wedding bouquets, to visit the Coronation Church of the Tsars, and the famous Vasilij Cathedral. The Armoury Museum contains the largest collection in the world of crown jewels and coronation robes, including the wedding dress of Catherine the Great and the famous189 carat Olov diamond. You will also see the golden horse-drawn carriages of all the Tsars and many other treasures. Lunch in Godunov Restaurant or similar.
After lunch walk through the Red Square to rejoin your coach for a 3 hours panoramic city tour, including a visit to Saviour Cathedral. On this tour you will see the amazing golden, blue and green towers of the Orthodox churches, the Bolshoy Theatre, Gorkij Park (Moscow’s largest entertainments park), the State University of Moscow, and numerous other famous sights. Return by coach to hotel. Dinner and accommodation at Tverskaya Marriott Hotel.

Day 20 MOSCOW (B, L, D)
Buffet breakfast at hotel. Morning: Guided tour of the famous Moscow Metro, followed by a walk along the fascinating pedestrian street Arbat, known as the ’Montmartre of Moscow’. Lunch at the Old Tower Restaurant. Afternoon free for shopping in the GUM department store or exploring Moscow on your own. We can recommend a visit to the Pushkin Museum, famous for its collection of monuments from Ancient Egypt, or the popular Tretiakov Art Gallery. Dinner and accommodation at Tverskaya Marriott Hotel.

Day 21 MOSCOW DEPARTURE (B)
Buffet breakfast at hotel followed by transfer with assistance to Moscow Airport for your flight home.
