Day 1 DEPARTURE FROM USA
Sit back, relax and enjoy your comfortable transatlantic flight on SAS bound for Oslo, Norway.
Day 2 ARRIVAL IN OSLO
Arrive at Oslo Gardermoen Airport. Transfer on your own to the hotel located just a minutes walk from the Central Train Station. Spend you day at leisure. Overnight at the centrally located Hotel Opera.
Day 3 OSLO - OSLO HIGHLIGHTS (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, morning departure by motorcoach for the Oslo Highlights sightseeing tour. Visits include the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and the Viking Ship Museum on the Bygdøy Peninsula. Afternoon at leisure. Perhaps take a stroll to Akershus Fortress or the bustling waterfront along Akerbrygge. Overnight at the Hotel Opera, ideally located in the city center.
Day 4 OSLO - NORWAY NUTSHELL TOUR - FLÅM RAILWAY - FLÅM
Early morning departure on the scenic Bergenbanen through the Hallingdal Valley, via Geilo and across a mountain plateau to Myrdal. Ride the famous Flåm Railway, descending 2,840 feet in 12 miles, into the wild Flåm Valley, passing spectacular scenery of waterfalls, mountain cliffs, tiny settlements and farms. Upon arrival in Flåm you have about one hour to stroll in the quaint fjord village, or perhaps enjoy a lunch in the beautiful *Fretheim Hotel located across from the Railway Station.
Afternoon at leisure. This evening enjoy a delicious buffet dinner at the hotel. Overnight at the Fretheim Hotel.
Day 5 FLÅM - VOSS - BERGEN (B)
Morning at leisure. Flåm is the beginning of an unforgettable 2-hour boat journey along the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord. You will pass the fjord villages of Aurland and Undredal with Scandinavia's smallest Stave church, dating from 1147. Turn into the Nærøyfjord, the narrowest, most dramatic of the secondary fjords to the Sognefjord, ending in Gudvangen. Continue with a 1-hour bus ride across the steep hairpin bends of the Stalheim Canyon Road, descending to the fjord village of Voss. Here you will reconnect with the Bergenbanen arriving from Oslo and Myrdal to the final destination, the colorful Hanseatic city of Bergen. Overnight at the First Hotel Marin.
Day 6 BERGEN (B, D)
This morning enjoy your Bergen sightseeing tour, approx. 3 hours. Featured are highlights such as the Fish and Flower Market, the Hanseatic Quarters and trade houses along Bryggen, the Old Bergen Museum and Troldhaugen, home of famous composer Edvard Grieg. Afternoon at leisure. This evening transfer on your own by short taxi ride to the Hurtigruten pier for your evening departure at 20:00 on the Norwegian Coastal Steamer. Your northbound voyage will take you from Bergen to Kirkenes, sailing for the next 7 days, stopping in many ports along the scenic and breathtaking route! A lite dinner is being served this evening. Overnight in cabin of your choice onboard the ship.
Day 7 MALØY - ÅLESUND - GEIRANGER* - KRISTIANSUND (B, L, D)
When you awake, the ship will be crossing Stadthavet and heading for Torvik. You'll have time to stroll around the beautiful Art Nouveau town of Alesund. After a short stop at the Jazz Festival town of Molde, you'll cross Hustadvika before docking at Kristiansund.
*Between April 16-September 11, all ships call at Geiranger in the spectacular Geiranger fjord, giving you an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful cruise into the majestic Geiranger Fjord, along Brudesloret, Friaren, the Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil Waterfalls.
Day 8 TRONDHEIM - RORVIK (B, L, D)
Early morning arrival in Trondheim.You'll have ample free time to explore this 1000 year-old historic and colorful town. Take a stroll through the cobblestone streets, past the charming harbor, or cross the old city bridge to see the restored wooden buildings in Bakklandet. Visit the medieval Nidaros Cathedral, home of Norway's Crown Jewels.
From Trondheim the ship will sail at 12:00 past many islands and skerries before arriving in Rorvik, where the southbound and northbound Coastal Steamers meet.
Day 9 ORNES - BODØ - STAMSUND - SVOLVÆR - TROLLFJORD (B, L, D)
You'll have passed the Arctic Circle before you are fully awake. Now in the land of the Midnight Sun, the ship will follow the mighty Borvass Mountains on its way into Bodø. Then you'll sail out to sea, crossing Vestfjord in the direction of the dramatic Lofoten Islands before reaching Stamsund and Svolvær in the evening. Later in the evening, the ship will continue north through the beautiful, narrow Raftsund Strait, passing the majestic Trollfjord on the port side.
Day 10 HARSTAD - FINNSNES - TROMSØ - SKJERVØY (B, L, D)
The ship will call at Harstad at breakfast time. It will then continue through Vagsfjord and Malangen before starting its approach to Tromsø. You'll have three hours for shopping and sightseeing in the capital of Arctic Norway before you leave to cross Lopphavet. Tomorrow, you'll wake up in Hammerfest.
Day 11 HAMMERFEST - HAVOYSUND - HONNINGSVÅG - KJOLLEFJORD - BERLEVAG (B, L, D)
In the Finnmark region, nature has created an austere, more dramatic landscape. You'll see both fishing villages from days gone by and lively fishing ports bustling with activity. The ship will head for Havøysund and Honningsvåg, before turning east across Austhavet toward the well-known fishing villages of Kjollefjord, Mehamn, and Berlevag.
Day 12 KIRKENES - OSLO (B)
This morning you'll arrive at Kirkenes, the journey's northern terminus. Here you will leave the Coastal Steamer for your southbound flight to Oslo. Transfer on your own to the airport. Upon arrival at the Oslo Gardermoen Airport transfer on your own by high-speed train to the Central Train Station in Oslo. Short walking transfer to the Radisson SAS Hotel Oslo Plaza, ideally located in the city center next to the Oslo Train Station. Overnight at the Radisson SAS Hotel Oslo Plaza.
Day 13 OSLO (B)
This morning pick up by bus at 09:25 from the hotel for the Oslo Highlights city sightseeing tour, approx. 3 hours. Visits include the Viking Ship Museum, Bygdøynes, the famous Vigeland Sculpture Park, and Holmenkollen Ski Jump with spectacular views over the city and Oslo fjord. Afternoon at leisure to shop on the bustling Karl-Johan-Street or take a stroll around the Akershus Fortress overlooking the Oslo Harbor. Overnight at the Radisson SAS Hotel Oslo Plaza.
DAY 14 OSLO - DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast check-out and end of program. Transfer on your own to the Oslo Gardermoen Airport by high-speed train departing from the Oslo Central Station.
